Relocation paves way for construction of first phase of Legoland Park

Aug 13, 2021

The relocation of 140 households at Wuyi Village in Fengjing Town of suburban Jinshan District was completed yesterday, paving the way for the construction of the first phase of Legoland Park.

The relocation started in July 2019 when a series of symposiums were held with villagers to seek their opinion. The relocation officially kicked off in December that year.

With a total investment of US$550 million, Legoland Park will include a themed amusement park and a hotel of no less than 250 rooms with a Legoland theme.

On completion, it will be the largest Legoland Park in the world.

The first Legoland Park opened in 1968 in Billund, Denmark. Since then, another seven Legoland parks have been set up across the world, each receiving over 1 million visitors annually.

Lego first came to China over 30 years ago. In 2014, the firm established its Shanghai office, and two years later Lego's first China flagship store opened in the city.
