Jul 19, 2021

Construction of the Future Island Integrated Circuit Industrial Park kicked off at the Jinshan Industrial Zone yesterday.

With a total investment of 776.81 million yuan (US$119.51 million), the industrial park is slated to be completed in 2023.

Shanghai EverDisplay Optronics is one of the companies in the park. It's the first producer of AMOLED screens in China and second in the world after South Korean electronics giant Samsung.

Shanghai EverDisplay Optronics has built China's first 4.5-generation AMOLED assembly line in Jinshan District. AMOLED screens are widely used in smartphones, televisions, laptops, tablets, wearable and virtual reality devices, and market demand is booming. Demand in the global OLED (organic light-emitting diode) panel market will hit 1.7 billion units in 2021, up from 300 million units in 2016, according to researcher IHS.

The revenue of the enterprises in the park is expected to reach 4 billion yuan, with profit after tax at 400 million yuan, according to industry insiders.
