Jinshan Industrial Zone firms look to boost mask production

Sheng Xin Textile Technology Co Ltd in the Jinshan Industrial Zone has donated 300,000 masks to Wuhan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in the central Chinese city of Wuhan following the outbreak of the pneumonia caused by a new coronavirus.


The factory resumed production on Chinese New Year's Day and its daily output has now reached 150,000 masks. The other two mask manufacturers in Jinshan also cancelled the Spring Festival holidays and their total daily output is currently 150,000.


After the three factories go into full operation, the daily output is expected to reach up to 500,000 masks.


Shanghai reported another five coronavirus cases, including one in serious condition, the Shanghai Health Commission said on Tuesday morning.


Currently, Shanghai has reported a total of 208 cases and ruled out 523 suspected cases.


Among all confirmed infections in Shanghai, 79 are from outside the city, including 57 from Wuhan, 20 are from other cities in Hubei, and one each from Anhui and Heilongjiang provinces.


By now, 183 patients are stable, six are in a serious condition and eight are critical. Ten patients have been discharged from hospital upon recovery, and there has been one fatality. Another 168 suspected cases are undergoing tests.
