Jinshan Hospital of Fudan University, a Grade-3 general hospital in the town of Jinshan on the Hangzhou Bay, combines clinical service with medical teaching, scientific research and disease prevention. It has various departments and advanced facilities.

Built in 1974 as the Shanghai Refinery Workers Hospital, it became affiliated with Shanghai Medical University in 1984. When the university was merged with Fudan University in 2000, the hospital changed its name again. It is a Red Cross hospital endorsed by the Red Cross Society of China.

Jinshan Hospital moved to its present site in February 2012 after new buildings and facilities were completed in September 2011 after more than two years of construction. The new complex occupies 12.3 hectares of land and has outpatient and inpatient buildings, emergency wards and radiotherapy facilities.

The hospital has about 1,200 employees and 700 sickbeds. About 92 percent of its medical workers have college degrees, including 108 medical professors and associate professors. It also boasts a full line-up of advanced medical equipment such as an ESWL machinery for non-invasive treatment of kidney stones, color Doppler ultrasound scanner, and an air-tight chamber for hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Of its 26 clinical departments and eight technical departments, Jinshan Hospital's urology, radiology and gastroenterology departments rank among the best in the city. The hospital is also famous for its burn surgery and ICU services. Its burns and plastic surgery department, the best in southwest Shanghai, has achieved a success rate of over 90 percent in treating patients suffering burns over 50 percent to 89 percent of their body surface.

In 2005, the hospital merged its occupational medicine department, burns and plastic surgery department, and emergency department to form the nuclear and chemical injury treatment center, which was part of Shanghai's 11th Five-Year Plan for medial sector development.
