Jinshan District boasts a variety of traditional folk sports such as dragon boat race in Shanyang Town, kite flying in Shihua Sub-district, dragon dance in Luxiang, "go" game in Zhangyan, waist-drum dance in Tinglin, and diabolo juggling in Fengjing.

Every year the district holds folk sports competitions to promote fitness exercise among local people, particularly in the months of June and November and on August 8, the National Fitness Day.

The rural sports festival hosted by Langxia Town features rice transplanting, fork tossing, shuttlecock kicking, iron ring rolling, top spinning and sandbag carrying. "Lianxiang," a folk dance in which dancers hold bamboo sticks with metal coins inside is especially popular among the town's residents.
