2026-07-23

A total of 765 athletes from Jinshan District are dedicating themselves to the final stage of training with great enthusiasm and high morale, striving to showcase Jinshan's athletic prowess and achieve outstanding results at the 18th Shanghai Municipal Games

Inside the Jinshan Sports Center's comprehensive training hall, the crisp sound of squash hitting the wall echoed one after another. The athletes' eyes were fixed on the rapidly bouncing ball, and they made quick stops, turns, and swings in the narrow space, their movements flowing smoothly.

Squash is being included in the Municipal Games for the first time this year.

Jinshan sent 12 squash players to participate, and they are both nervous and full of expectations, hoping to make a great debut on this brand-new field.  Jiang Wenkai, one of the players, said, "We have practiced special skills, and we want to perform at our best in the Municipal Games."

Meanwhile, in the boxing training area of Fengying Gym, the coaches and athletes are demonstrating solid offensive and defensive skills.

Boxing coach Lu Weifeng revealed that it has arranged two to three high-intensity sparring matches every week to ensure the athletes fully understand the rhythm of offense and defense when they are competing at the Municipal Games.  It has set out a goal for the boxing team to secure two gold medals and strive for three.

The Jinshan delegation will participate in 32 youth events, covering multiple fields such as football, swimming, windsurfing, rock climbing, and chess.

Leveraging its long-standing mechanism of integrating sports training and education, Jinshan has already demonstrated its advantages in several distinctive competitive sports, including football and rowing.

Jinshan athletes have vowed not only to strive for the top ranking in terms of total number of medals, but also to fight tenaciously and showcase their unwavering sportsmanship.
